“The last time I saw the ocean I was so drunk that I don’t even remember it. I vaguely remember stumbling around trying to talk to these two girls and them being like “eww what’s this guys deal?” It turned out a seagull had crapped on my forehead and I didn’t know it. Seems there’s really nothing too cool about being drunk and high. It’s pretty tacky to normal people. Anyway.. went to the beach today and it was awesome being there clean and sober. If someone had told me 2 weeks ago that I would be in a rehab in Florida and going to the beach I would have laughed at them and told them they were high and that they needed rehab. They took us to a pretty good AA meeting and I got a sponsor. It was weird asking him to be my sponsor. It felt awkward like asking another guy on a date or something. But hey I did it because I want to stay sober. He gave me an Alcoholics Anonymous book and told me to read some stuff and highlight what I relate to. Still not feeling 100% physically but I think the beach and the sun helped my depression and cravings. Slowly getting better.”
