“I swear the hardest part of getting clean is dealing with these damn feelings. Fear, anxiety, depression, anger, sadness, madness, gladness, and blah blah blah. I swear I can feel all of those in 5 minutes. When I can’t sleep and my mind is going crazy Scott the resident advocate guy talks to me and it helps calm me down. Well, he mostly listens to me ramble about my problems and then tells me his experience. He has over a year clean and sober which seems like a f’n eternity! I wanted him to be my sponsor but he said it’s a conflict of interest and told me I need to develop a support system in the meetings we go to. The owners of the place came over and barbecued and cooked us burgers. We played some volleyball and basketball. I slept for 5 hours last night which is kind of a big deal. So I guess you could say I’m a feeling a little bit better.”
