Addicts in Recovery Helping One Another

One of the most overlooked areas of treatment is the environment that both clinical care and residential living happen in. These make up the backbone of you or your loved one’s treatment experience and, at the Good Life, we think they couldn’t be more important.

In fact, there are quite a few benefits of structured, sober community living for people in treatment and early-recovery. Let’s take a look at some of them.

The Benefits of Community Living

Community living’s one of the most subtle and powerful tools we have to help fight addiction.

Offering a structured yet organic living environment strengthens and reinforces information learned during the clinical day. This leads clients to build accountability and a new way of viewing the world.

During step down levels of care – IOP and OP – community living helps clients to transition back to work, school, and other responsibilities while still receiving support and encouragement. It’s a wonderful transitional tool.

It’s worth mentioning that although community living’s different from traditional treatment housing, it isn’t any less supervised.

Our residences are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained recovery professionals. This allows a quick and effective response if someone relapses or engages in other harmful behavior.

Okay, enough waxing poetic about the benefits of community living. What are the cold hard facts? Well, community living enables our clients to:
Fun cookouts are part of community living at the Good Life

  • Maintain independence and sobriety at the same time
  • Develop life skills by grocery shopping, budgeting, cooking, and cleaning their residences
  • Foster a sense of community as our clients work side-by-side towards long-term recovery
  • Hold each other accountable and offer much needed “peer therapy”
  • Have a more personal treatment experience than traditional “facility-living” offers
  • Bring the comforts of home with them and create a safe and personal living space

Sounds better than a hospital or lockdown living experience, right? We think so.

Structured community living at the Good Life’s just one more way we go above and beyond to ensure you or your loved one receives every possible tool to grow in your recovery!
